Heard (A Flash Fiction)

Heard

“I know I’ve been busy in work, but…”

“It’s been a really good week for me, at least, I mean…”

“I’m really aiming for that promotion that I want…”

“I’ve got the promotion, first of all! It’s a bliss, you know…”

“And I know I’m close to that position. You know other companies…”

“To finally see that your works have paid off! I can’t believe it, really…”

“They’ve offered me positions with high salary, but I didn’t take it…”

“And now that I have the promotion, an increase in salary is included!”

“Because I want to stay in my ‘now’ company.”

“Do you get what I said?”

“Wait, what? Do you get what I said?”

The dinner was served for the couple, but nobody wanted to listen.
