No one was allowed beyond the wired fences.

“Hey!” The Society’s guards yelled.

There was a life beyond the fences; it was written in my parents’ journal.

My combat boots met the dried grasses as I ran. I saw the circular, wooden structure and knew I was near the fences.

“Stop!”

Loud rings emerged and a bullet went through my shoulder. I yelled, but turned and threw my dagger to a guard. It hit his throat.

Life beyond, I’m coming.

As I tried to jump, pain shot through my chest and I felt blood on my lips before I collapsed.

WORD COUNT: 100
