Into My Lungs (A Flash Fiction)

In the land enclosed with whispering breaths and animated lips, we surrender to the paradise that kills.

It’s the most blissful feeling I’ve ever met—I kiss it with all my force and drink it in until its last taste. I grasp its hand and sew it with mine. This is the fullest between our untold and spoken stories.

For an unknown reason, you decide to let my images fade from your memory. The lasting scent of the vanilla moonlight loses its way to you. And I can’t breathe—I can’t take your gasps in me without suffocating. I’m being drowned by your words; I’m being poisoned by your breath.

This beauty grounds me to death.
