I shuffled the cards.
The dark ambiance of the room heightened my edginess and anticipation. My hands shook from my own twisted mind. I could not concentrate.
“Pause. You have to focus.” Madame Norea said.
I breathed out and continued scuffling. I passed it to Madame.
She spread it out and said, “pick one.”
I pulled out the card near the focal point of the deck. I swallowed hard before I gave it to her.
“I’m just going out.”
“Oh, okay.” I said.
“I won’t be back tonight; business meeting.”
Madame Norea gazed at me. “You picked The Fool, dear.”
