Brown Letter

Once, I told you how letters tugged my lungs – it aroused my heart, sending tears and bliss into my eyes. The most intimate and sensual, letters became the body I desired and you never failed to deliver these.

Dawn broke across the winter morning. I clutched the brown-skinned paper over my chest. Trembling lips waved its words to you as leather feet walked to the immigration.

“…gone for good.”

“Maybe we can try…”

“Long distance falters. I will only destroy – believe me.”

A lifetime passed over a minute; hunger surged its way.

A heavy woosh invaded the misty skies.
