He cradles his child around his sincere embrace. She stares at the cinematic scene and keeps every frame she can. His lips stretch and their laughter echoes explosions of neon dreams. What she wills to sacrifice just to share a minute of those with him.

Their eyes lock and the thousand unspoken letters settle in. The whispers and conversations hovering the room drown as they retell some deep regrets. The fireworks erupt in the clouds, but their gazes do not come apart.

Later tonight before they sleep, he will send a voice mail to her disconnected line to tell her he still wants to count the stars with her while she will write down in the journal he gave her the list of reasons why she should stop spending her restless nights on her balcony with a glass of his favorite whiskey.
