ghost eyes.

from Pexels;

Rose rests her head on my shoulder, taking a break from her murder. Her sister’s lifeless body lies before our feet. Her pool of blood reaches the soles of my shoes and I can’t believe I’m seeing my dead fiancé. Rose plucks out a cigarette stick and lights it. “Her wedding dress might not fit me, though,” she says. “But I’ll find a way to get one tomorrow morning.”

I clutch my side to hold the ooze of my own blood. Rose managed to shoot a bullet in it. I close my eyes and exhale out of pain. “I’ll promise to be the perfect wife you want,” Rose whispers. My vision starts to turn, but I try to hold still as I hear the sirens of the polices’ car. Rose watches me in surprise and I catch the gaze of her ghost eyes. Her disappointment and tears etch across her face. I only manage a grin before the blood rise up to my lips and my eyelids shut.
